This semester of school brought a whole new series of challenges that I, among my classmates, had never faced before. I found being virtual especially difficult because I had to be self-directed, motivated, and disciplined, which were all skills I've struggled with before this year. It was a learning process, and although I'm still not perfect, I found ways to keep a consistent schedule and remain on top of my assignments. Even though I'm still struggling in some areas, a look back to the beginning of the first quarter reminds me just how far I've come in adjusting to online learning.
When it comes to motivation, I'm hopeful that returning to in-person learning will help me thrive. Although it may not be what I want to do everyday, (partly due to the waking up early in the morning and driving in the cold,) I know that ultimately it will be better for my academics, and I'm almost certain I'll see an improvement in my grades. It was super easy to fall off track with my motivation and to keep holding myself accountable with so many at-home distractions. But now that I'll be in the classroom setting, I think it'll be easy to hold myself accountable and use my time wisely to get work done.
Blogging has helped me find a write a better writing style and develop my voice, so I'm looking forward to continuing the weekly blogs and seeing how it improves my writing. And, as with all of my assignments, I'm hoping to set more time aside to get it done with thought and care.
It's really important to me that I kick my bad habits and develop better ones before high school comes to a close and college comes around, especially because at the point I'll be even more on my own to take charge of my learning and grades. I'm tired of school causing me stress and feeling perpetually behind. I'm extremely excited for the opportunity second semester will be bring me to start fresh grade and assignment wise, and develop great habits and time management skills for the rest of my schooling, and even beyond into my career.
